(Let’s pretend that I got this one posted “on time” 2 weeks ago, ‘kay?) The vernal equinox, otherwise known as the first day of Spring (here north of the equator!), has meaning to me that goes beyond its astronomical significance. March 21 is the day that the StarMan and I have long regarded as our anniversary date. Going all mushy or TMI is not my style, but I really don’t give StarMan the credit he deserves. He is the embodiment of unconditional love, and I am the luckiest person alive to be the person with whom he decided to share his life.
What might seem odd, after having published 42 posts, is to be writing something entitled “My Story”. Since I wasn’t clever enough to have made my last post The Answer To The Ultimate Question Of Life, The Universe, And Everything, I decided it was high time to write a short biographical, with all the interesting bits in one place. You see, lately I’ve been joining various online groups — mostly MS-related — and I am finding the redundancy of “introducing” myself over and over again to be incredibly tedious. The future plan? Point ’em to this tell-all page. Brilliant! So, with apologies to those who have already slogged through 42 posts, here goes … Continue reading
The question posed by this post’s title was on my and my colleagues’ minds all day today. We didn’t hold a “party” per se. In fact, the event that we held was no fun whatsoever. But I digress. The cogent point is: no one showed up! Continue reading

The other is a 6-month check up to see if the employee is on-track for meeting the performance goals that were established between the employee and his/her management in the previous year. While I really detest/dread these performance reviews — they take up an inordinate amount of preparation time — I have to admit that they do serve a useful purpose: they hold us measurably accountable for the things we promised we’d deliver. In that same spirit, I’ve now had 4 months to dig into my 2013 New Year Resolutions: What’s my score so far? Continue reading
Spring arrived at my California home no later than the third week of January, but apparently the season has been playing hide-and-seek with a large swath of the mid-West. I visited family in the Cincinnati, OH area over Easter weekend, and was greeted with colder air than I’ve gotten accustomed to! Despite the fact that snow was falling on April 1st (some kind of cruel April Fool’s joke being played by Mother Nature?), the last days of March were truly lovely, and made for perfect hiking weather.
